Amazing!

There are many things in this world that never cease to amaze me. Some of them are good, and some of them are bad:

The first crocuses of spring

How a big fat bird can light on the thinnest of reeds.

The sound of peepers

How bright the full moon is.

How not bright some people are.

That an infielder can stay in front of a one-hop ground ball traveling 102 MPH, and stick his face right over top of his hands to watch that hot-shot into his glove without flinching

The kindness of people never ceases to amaze me.

That the most dangerous time to cross any street in America is when the little white stick-figure flashes to indicate that now is a good time to cross the street.

Fields of wildflowers are amazing, too. This one was (and may still be) along the C&O Canal between Williamsport and Taylor’s Landing.

That a dance instructor can switch instantly from the leader’s to the follower’s part

That of all the people who do the Electric Slide only 10% actually know how to do the Electric Slide

That hockey players can skate backwards better than I can walk forwards

It never ceases to amaze me how fast my past is receding into the past.

It never ceases to amaze me how fast grandchildren grow, and how quickly they recover when sick!

That my heart surgery was a year ago (March 13). The surgery itself has amazed me every day since.

One should never cease to be amazed about things in this world. It’s a sign that you’re alive and paying attention.

What never ceases to amaze you?

About Austin Gisriel

You know the guy that records a baseball game from the West Coast in July and doesn't watch it until January just to see baseball in the winter? That's me. I'm a writer always in search of a good story, baseball or otherwise.

    • Lol, well Dick, for you I’ll have to make some. I’ll give it some thought, flip a few coins, and put them out there before Opening Day. Here’s a safe bet: At least one game will be snowed out the first week of the season!

What I find amazing is having the privilege to celebrate life’s special moments and achievements with family. Watching our children work hard and succeed in reaching their dreams and all the while knowing that they have fulfilled your own dreams for them in becoming amazing, compassionate, and driven young adults.
